Armash (Արմաշ) is a village in the Ararat Municipality of the Ararat Province of Armenia near the Arax River. It is situated approximately 63 kms (39 miles) southeast of Yerevan at an elevation of around 840 meters (2,756 feet). The village is surrounded by the Armash Fishponds, a wetland ecosystem that attracts migratory birds, including flamingos and pelicans. Armash has a population of 2,378, most of whom are farmers. Known for its agricultural output, particularly fruit orchards, vineyards, watermelons, and tomatoes. It also remains a key producer of sturgeon and caviar in Armenia, with locally farmed fish sold across the country.
